Data on the use of quetiapine in the U. S. were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2001 to 2015. Quetiapine use was defined as a prescription for quetiapine in the U. in the absence of a previous diagnosis of an acute or chronic condition that would have been considered “off-label”. The number of patients on quetiapine in the U. was calculated as a number of visits per month, and the proportion of individuals who used quetiapine in the U. was determined as a percentage of the population. The number of quetiapine and quetiapine XR prescriptions was obtained from the National Drug Information System (NDIS) database. Quetiapine was found to be associated with the use of quetiapine in the U. as determined by a chi-square test. Quetiapine XR was associated with the use of quetiapine in the U. as determined by a logistic regression analysis. Quetiapine XR was not associated with the use of quetiapine in the U.
